Other Important Information

The discounted tuition is determined by the student’s initial enrollment through the Scholar Program and is guaranteed with consecutive re-enrollment each academic term. The contract is for the 12 required courses for the degree taken in accordance with the cohort schedule.  Because of the highly discounted nature of this program, deviations from the cohort schedule may have financial implications.  Examples of deviations are below:

  • Students who withdraw from a class or fail to meet academic standards must pay full tuition rates to retake the class or classes.
  • Students who decide to take a schedule break, must pay full tuition rates to make-up the class or classes missed in accordance with the cohort schedule.  Students should be cautioned that in addition to having to pay full price for the make-up classes, the student will have to wait until York University offers the course again which may necessitate an extension to the 2-year plan.  If the student is able to rejoin at least part of the remaining cohort schedule, those scheduled courses are still covered under the original contract.
  • Students who choose to withdraw from the program or are dropped from the program due to excessive academic failure are still obligated to pay for the coursework taken (or attempted) at the full tuition rate up to the value of the contract.  For example: if the student has only completed (or attempted) 1 course and wants to leave the program, he would pay the current cost of tuition for 3 credit hours as of the day of withdrawal.  Depending on the student's original payment plan, he may also be entitled to a partial refund.  If the full-cost tuition for what the student has completed (or attempted) exceeds the contracted amount, then he will not have to pay more than what was noted in the initial contract with York University.
  • Students who take an indefinite break from the program forfeit the discounted tuition rate.  An inactive student petitioning to be readmitted to the program will no longer be eligible for the original contract terms.

We look forward to welcoming you into our close-knit community!
