Steps to Apply for Aid:

Step One

Complete your taxes for the prior prior year.

Step Two

Create a username and password

  • Create Account
  • Your username and password can be used each year to electronically apply for federal student aid, to electronically sign your federal student aid documents, and to access your personal records online.  

Step Three

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

  • Application
  • The federal school code for York University is 002567.
  • To help expedite your application, ensure that you electronically "sign" the FAFSA form with your username and password.
  • If you are experiencing problems, please contact the FAFSA hotline at 1-800-433-3243

Step Four

​Review the Student Aid Report (SAR)

  • You will have access to a SAR 5-7 days after completing your FAFSA. Check your SAR for accuracy, make the necessary corrections online, and sign the form with your password.

Step Five

If you are taking the Federal Parent PLUS Loan, complete the Direct PLUS Loan Application

Note: The Direct PLUS Loan Application must be completed in one sitting.

Step Six

Complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Counseling

Step Seven

Look for an email from Financial Aid

  • Once you have been accepted and if you are eligible for student aid, York University's Financial Aid Department will send you an email with instructions on how to accept your financial aid in the Net Partner financial aid portal.

 

Note: If you do not complete the FAFSA, you will not be eligible for federal grants, loans or federal work study, as well as certain need-based scholarships. If you will not be submitting a FAFSA, please contact the Financial Aid Office for a waiver form.

Step One

  • Master Promissory Note
  • Sign In
  • Select "Sign Master Promissory Note"
  • Complete the requested information
  • Print a copy of the signed MPN for your records
