How to Apply

Our application and admission process is easy! We have outlined the 5 main steps to take you from application to orientation. To find out more details, just click on one of the boxes.

The process is a little different if you’re an international student, military/veteran student, or a former York University student who is wanting to return.

Complete Your Application

The first step towards becoming a York University student is filling out an application. Luckily our app is quick, painless and absolutely free!

Send Transcripts & Test Scores

Have your official school transcripts, test scores, and other necessary documentation sent to us.  

  • Undergraduates with less than 28 earned college credit hours must present proof of graduation from high school or equivalent.

  • Undergraduates must request official transcripts from each college attended
  • Undergraduates must send in ACT or SAT test scores. Use the York University school code to make sure they get to us.
    • ACT Code: 2484
    • SAT Code: 6984
  • Graduates must request official transcripts from each institution from which the student has received a degree and transcripts from all other colleges attended
  • International students must submit a copy of the TOEFL score. If English is the principal language of the student’s home country, this requirement may be waived. The ACT or SAT may also be used by an international student for acceptance consideration in place of the TOEFL. Students earning a minimum of 28 semester credits from an accredited U.S. college may be exempt from this requirement.
  • Military members, veterans, and family members using educational benefits should provide the applicable forms (e.g., DD214, VA-221990, VA-221990E)
  • Re-admits must be in good standing with the Registrar, Financial Aid, Student Accounts, and Student Development offices

Complete FAFSA or Waiver

To be eligible for federal aid, loans, scholarships, and grants, the FAFSA will most likely need to be completed. If you have any questions, please contact the financial aid offices at (402) 363-5625 or financialaid@york.edu.

Finalize Your Aid Package & Payment Plan

Once you've been Accepted for Admission, you will need to complete financial documents such as the Financial Responsibility Agreement, contracts, and any other forms sent to you by the Financial Aid and Student Accounts offices.

Get Ready for Classes

Once these steps are completed and you have activated your YORK.EDU email account, your academic advisor will register you for classes for the desired term and notify you of your schedule.
