Retirement Announcement for Dr. Mark Phillips

With extreme gratitude, we announce Dr. Mark Phillips' retirement as an online professor of Psychology at York University. After over two years of dedicated service to the university as a Professor of Psychology, he transitioned to online instruction and returned to church ministry service.

Dr. Phillips joined the Department of Psychology as the Department Chair and Professor at York University in 2021 with a Doctorate in Ministry including an emphasis in counseling from Amridge University. He quickly made a lasting impact on the department and its students. During his time at the university, he was known for his care and concern for the student’s academic and spiritual life and his unwavering commitment to the success of his students. Dr. Phillips began his teaching journey at York College from 1985-1987 as an Assistant Professor in Psychology. In 2005 he began teaching online for various universities and then came full circle as he retired from online teaching with York University in 2024.

Throughout the years, Dr. Phillips’ has presented sound Biblical wisdom and teaching through his teaching to undergraduate and graduate students both on campus and online at York University. Dr. Phillips has held to James 3:1, "Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness." We thank Dr. Phillips for his dedication and service and congratulate him on his retirement from YUO!
