Background
The York University Online Mobility Grant provides eligible undergraduate students up to $12,000 in additional funding for students to complete their Bachelor’s Degree at York University Online - funds that do not need to be paid back. York University Alumni may be eligible for up to $7,500 towards earning your Master’s Degree at York University Online. For eligible graduate students, this program can provide up to $5,000 in additional funds that do not need to be repaid - for earning your Master’s Degree at York University Online.
Basic Eligibility Requirements For All Students
In order to qualify for the Grant, a student must qualify for admission and enroll as an independent, first-time degree-seeking student in an online degree program at York University.
The Grant And Other Student Aid & Tuition Assistance
The Grant can be combined with other types of aid a student receives from Federal Student Aid programs such as a Pell Grant as well as any other tuition assistance a student receives from an employer, the military/VA, or a state agency. Students that are eligible for and are otherwise receiving other institutional aid grants from York University are not eligible for the Grant.
Use Of The Grant
Any grant funds awarded are restricted and can only be applied towards a student’s tuition and fees at York University Online. Grant may not be used for books, education materials, transportation, living expenses, room/board, or any other purpose other than York University Online tuition and fees. Funds also cannot be refunded or paid to a student (or any third party) for any reason.
Requirements Specific For York University Alumni Graduate Students
- To be initially eligible as an alumni graduate student, the alumni must have maintained an average undergraduate GPA of at least 2.5+.
- A student must maintain an average GPA of at least 2.7 and otherwise in good standing as a student at York University to remain eligible for Grant funds.
- The Grant is available only for twelve (12) months for Master’s Degree program students. Grant funds may only be used for your first thirty six (36) units of coursework at York University and are only available for York University Online credit-bearing courses that are required for a student’s degree completion.
- Grant funds are only available and awarded for courses a student successfully completes. For any courses a student does not receive credit for upon completion of the course, drop, or withdraw from; a student will not be eligible for funds to be awarded from this program for that particular course.
- Grant funds will only be awarded and credited to a student’s York University account at the end of each term, after the student has successfully completed their course(s).
- As long as a student remains eligible and subject to the above conditions, the student will receive grant funding awards of $175 per credit hour during the first twelve (12) months following their matriculation, up to a total of $7,500 in aggregate funding.
Requirements Specific To Graduate Students
- To be initially eligible as a graduate student, a student must have maintained an average undergraduate GPA of at least 2.7.
- A student must maintain an average GPA of at least 3.0 and otherwise in good standing as a student at York University to remain eligible for Grant funds.
- The Grant is available only for twelve (12) months for Master’s Degree program students. Grant funds may only be used for your first thirty-six (36) units of coursework at York University and are only available for York University Online credit-bearing courses that are required for a student’s degree completion.
- Grant funds are only available and awarded for courses a student successfully completes. For any courses a student does not receive credit for upon completion of the course, drop, or withdraw from; a student will not be eligible for funds to be awarded from this program for that particular course.
- Grant funds will only be awarded and credited to a student’s York University account at the end of each term, after the student has successfully completed their course(s).
- As long as a student remains eligible and subject to the above conditions, the student will receive grant funding awards of $ 140 per credit hour during the first twelve (12) months following their matriculation, up to a total of $ 5,000 in aggregate funding.
Requirements Specific To Undergraduate Students
- A student must maintain an average GPA of at least 2.0 at York University Online to remain eligible and otherwise in good standing as a student at York University Online to remain eligible.
- A student must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and be awarded any other FSA grants and state grants a student is eligible for by the Office of Financial Aid prior to final Grant eligibility being determined. All FSA grants, state grants, and other tuition assistance (including employer, VA, and DoD) a student is eligible for must be relied upon prior to any awarding of the Grant. Students are not required to take out student loans - federal or private.
- Students must complete their Bachelor’s Degree program within four years or 48 months.
- Grant funds may only be used for the student’s first sixty (60) units of coursework at York University Online and are only available for York University Online credit bearing courses that are required for degree completion. Depending on prior acceptable transfer credit a student has, the number of units to complete their Bachelor’s Degree at York University may be more or less than sixty (60) units than this particular grant program potentially is available for.
- Grant funds are only available and awarded for courses that are successfully completed. For any courses a student does not receive credit for upon completion of the course, drop, or withdraw from; a student will not be eligible for funds to be awarded from the Grant for that particular course.
- Grant funds will only be awarded and credited to a student’s York University account at the end of each term, after the student has successfully completed their course(s).
- As long as a student remains eligible and subject to the above conditions, a student will receive Grant funding awards of $200.00 per credit hour during the first thirty (30) months following a student’s matriculation, up to a total of $12,000 in aggregate funding.
