Study Abroad

York University offers an exciting study abroad experience consisting of a two week trip during the spring (usually in May). This program combines faith and learning in an international context with a small community of York University ​students and staff. Students in this program will have the exciting chance to travel abroad, enroll in specially designed courses, and participate in unique spiritual growth opportunities. 

 

Earn credits toward your degree!

Undergraduates weill enroll in EXP 313 Experiential Studies in Multiculturalism for 3 credits that apply to either the cultural perspective category or as a general elective. Graduate students will enroll in EXP 5311 Experiential Studies in Multiculturalism for 3 credits that will substitute for required course GRS 5341 Navigating in a Diverse Society or as an elective. Let your academic advisor know if you are interested.

 

 

EXP 313 Experiential Studies in Multiculturalism

EXP 313 Experiential Studies in Multiculturalism

Experiential study of cultural diversity through critical reading and reflection writing exercises, in addition to immersive experiences utilizing museums, historical sites, natural landmarks, and local cuisines. Study is centered on various aspects of culture on one’s identity to build awareness and appreciation of human culture differences around the world while critically engaging the student to engage with different cultural perspectives.

EXP 5311 Experiential Studies in Multiculturalism

This course provides students with multicultural awareness, knowledge and skills required of professional leaders, supervisors, managers, counselors, and educators. Study is centered on various aspects of culture within one’s leadership identity. The class will focus on building awareness and appreciation of human cultural differences around the world.
