History
Founded in 1890, York University is located in the heart of York, Nebraska, a city in the southeastern part of the state and about 50 miles west of the capital Lincoln. York University Online launched in 2010 to expand the reach of the school, concentrating initially on undergraduate programming. In 2012 the college was commissioned to provide online graduate-level studies. The school has served students, both traditional and online, from across the United States and several countries. York College transitioned to York University in the summer of 2022.
From the founding and continuing today, the focus of transforming lives through Christ-centered education has remained our top priority. We are an intentionally small college, with an average of 450 students on our residential campus and about 200 degree-seeking online students. We aim to inspire students to grow intellectually as well as spiritually through a caring and Christ-loving community of supportive peers, passionate educators, and engaged alumni. With a Christian foundation, God-honoring vision, Midwestern values and connection to the community, we endeavor to provide a grounding for students as they grow in mind, body, and spirit.
